How We Work…

How it works is simple – we start with a Strategy Session:

I only have room for a limited number of clients and this is on purpose so I can work closely with each one and deliver results and service.

Our first meeting is a ‘look see’ for us both to decide if we want to work with one another. But it is more than that – it will be a full blown strategy session where we will look at your business, where it is and where you want it to go.

If what you are after is outside of my abilities I will tell you at this meeting and wherever possible recommend another Consultant or Coach to assist you with what you need. ( To date I have only had to do this in one instance and in that case the client was after some specific software development.)

The initial meeting we share will be with you or your Management, and  either F2F over a cup of coffee or via Skype / Telephone. This is where we will explore what you are looking for.

The meeting can last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending upon what your needs are.

The discussion will centre on what you, the client, is looking for, what results you want to achieve, what your concerns are and where you see your self & your business today & in the near & medium future.

We will explore questions such as:

  • What are the 5 greatest opportunities for your business at the moment?
  • What wakes you up at 3am in the morning?
  • What are your current roadblocks?
  • Do you have an Exit Strategy and what is it?
  • Where do you see the business at in 2 years?
  • Where do you see yourself in 12 months?

I’ll then explain how I work, how I use a ‘Chess clock’ system to measure time by client (this way if you take an hourly package you only ever pay for my time on your business – not anyone elses!) how I report and how we’ll work accountability into the working relationship.

If we agree that engaging me is something you want to do, I will then produce a preliminary Scope of Work to ensure that I have captured your main concerns and where you feel I can add value.

Then we discuss the proposal, sign a custom engagementagreement and set a time to begin.

At or before our first billable meeting I will sign non-disclosure & confidentiality agreements pertaining to the information that the Client will be making available to me.

We then get to work.

I will spend time with you and / or your designated staff to work on and develop solutions to the issues and problems that we identify in the first stage of this business improvement process.

The amount of time spent and the level of my involvement depends upon:

  • The type of work you want done
  • What you want to achieve in our time together
  • The level of engagement you require
  • How quickly you want results

What can you expect?

Our sessions are tailored to your needs, but as a guide, below are some things we always look at:

  •  Identifying what needs to happen first so you can get some real momentum happening in your business.
  • How we can make ‘the phone ring’ more often.
  • Reviewing & fixing some work habits. This process can be just the series of changes you need to get you working on your business and moving it forward.
  • Determining what systems are needed to be put in place to make your business more efficient. Having systems allows you more time to work on the growth of your business by giving you more freedom and control.

I will review your business with you and perhaps turn up strengths you didn’t know you had and some weaknesses that were hiding.

I will work with you to enable you to spend more time working on your business and spend less time working in it. I will ensure that you are getting the maximum ‘Bang’ for your marketing / sales & advertising dollars – I may even save you money whilst getting better results.

I will work with you to create both your growth and exit strategies.

Most of all I will do so with a focus on practical, workable advice so that you are in control of your business.

A clear set of ‘Deliverables’ – work to be done – can only be developed after time spent together.

Time where we thrash out what you want, what wakes you up in a sweat at 3 am, what your top 5 opportunities are and what are your 5 greatest challenges in your business.

Where you are and where you want to go.

I will assist you to achieve clarity and define a path to follow to achieve what you want.

This may take a couple of hours, half a day or even a day, but from this will come a clear set of deliverable actions with time frames which we will review and then once agreed, work together to develop and implement.

The action plan we create will provide the bones of our compact – it will lie out in clear language what needs to be done, why it needs to be done, who will do what, and when it needs to be done by. It will show the markers along the way so we will know if we are on time and on track or if we need to adjust our approach.This document will be the roadmap we will follow.

This will not be an easy journey but it will, I promise, be a rewarding one.

I will provide you with scheduled updates and reports on the progress of the deliverables – no mumbo-jumbo, just clear concise reporting.

What you want to achieve or need to be done will determine how you will engage me to work with you.

If you are after work on a specific task or project then there is an hourly ‘Ad Hoc’ rate available.

If you want a sounding board for a while there is a package available.

If you want to transform your business and have a Mentor and Coach on tap there is a package for that as well.

You have a choice to make – what do you need to achieve your goals? What amount of resource are you willing to dedicate to achieving your desired outcomes? How soon and how efficiently do you want to get there?

In general, apart from specific issue engagements, the more time I spend working with you the quicker we can get the results you want.
